Video: Real Betis’ Andres Guardado mocks Sevilla’s Joan Jordan over reaction to being hit by projectile from crowd

Real Betis star Andres Guardado made use of the replay between his side and Sevilla earlier today to poke fun at the latter’s Joan Jordan.

El Grand Derbi abandoned

For those not aware, the name of midfielder Jordan took its place front and centre in the headlines of Spanish football on Saturday.

This came amid disgraceful scenes in the latest Seville Derby showdown between Betis and Sevilla.

The high-flying long-time rivals locked horns once more a little over 24 hours ago, to vie it out for a place in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey.

An action-packed opening 40 minutes saw the scoreline locked at a goal apiece as the interval approached, after Papu Gomez’s opener was cancelled out by a stunning effort on the part of Betis standout Nabil Fekir:

A superb evening of entertainment, however, was ruined just moments later.

As showcased in the footage below, amid the celebrations of Fekir’s equaliser, Sevilla’s Joan Jordan was struck by what appeared to be a metal bar, thrown from the Benito Villamarin stands:

The situation, in turn, resulted in the clash being abandoned, rescheduled to take place behind closed doors on Sunday afternoon.

Guardado mocks Jordan

And so, the Grand Derbi got back underway from just shy of the 40-minute mark, as planned.

In the end, it was hosts Betis who emerged from the chaos triumphant, sending Sevilla packing from the Copa courtesy of Sergio Canales’ winner inside the closing 20 minutes of play:

As alluded to above, though, it was not Canales’ strike itself which took centre stage in the headlines post-match.

Instead, this honour was reserved for Betis teammate Andres Guardado.

On the back of the full-time whistle sounding at the Villamarin, veteran Mexican international Guardado was spotted mocking Joan Jordan’s collapse after being struck by the projectile from the crowd amid Saturday’s action.

This comes amid mounting bad blood between the two clubs, with Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui understood to have encouraged Jordan to essentially feign an injury on the touchline on the back of yesterday’s incident:
