Fred speaks out on talk of cliques at Manchester United

Manchester United struggling

Ralf Rangnick would be named as Manchester United’s interim boss in December of 2021.

The German was expected to take charge of the club for the remainder of 2021/22 before transitioning into a two-year consultancy role.

The Red Devils began life under Rangnick with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, a game Man United dominated and showed signs of already learning an effective pressing game under the German in.

This was followed by a weakened United side drawing 1-1 with Young Boys, a result which was enough to see the Manchester outfit top their Champions League group.

Manchester United have since faced Norwich, Newcastle, Burnley Wolves and Aston Villa in the Premier League.

And, despite three of those sides being the current bottom three, Manchester United never really looked convincing in any of those outings, scrapping a 1-0 win over Norwich and being forced to settle for a draw with Newcastle.

Fred speaks on talk of cliques at Manchester United

Off the field, meanwhile, there has been reports that the mood at United’s training ground is very low and concerns over dressing room cliques have also been mentioned.

However, talks of dressing room cliques has since been dismissed by Fred.

The Brazilian insists that whilst he may be closer to some of the players who speak Portuguese, that does not mean he will not talk to the English players:

“We who speak Portuguese, we communicate, we have a nice friendship. I’ve been good friends with Alex Telles, both on and off the pitch for many years now, so of course, I’ll be a bit closer to him, but that doesn’t mean I won’t talk to [Jesse] Lingard, [Marcus] Rashford, [Mason] Greenwood or [Harry] Maguire and the other English players.

Fred added:

“We have a very good friendship, it’s a great atmosphere in the dressing room, we are very good friends and we are always having fun together. “Whenever possible we have dinner together, recently it hasn’t happened because of COVID-19, but we always try to be all together.

“It is a huge club that people will always try to say something about us. Cristiano Ronaldo is a great player that everyone wants to talk about and, unfortunately, fake news stories come out. That’s very much part of it, unfortunately.”
